The Solidarity, Sustainability, and Non-Violence (SSNV) E-Journal

The SSNV e-journal is a monthly digest of news and current research on the most critical global issues at the intersection of technology, society, and religion. Technology includes the entire range of tools made by human hands. Most of the human and social sciences are taken into account. The Bible is used as a primary source of wisdom, but sources from other religious traditions are consulted. The analysis approach is evidence-based, but specific methods such as system dynamics and mimetic theory are used when appropriate. The United Nations' Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are used as point of reference.

CURRENT SERIES

There are many dimensions of sustainable development. Some of them are listed on the right-hand column. Each of these dimensions intersects with technology, society, religion, and all the other dimensions.

It is not posible to analyze all the dimensions simultaneously. The plan for the current series is to provide one-dimensional monthly digests, and a synthesis at the end of the year.

For specidic MDG projects, the analysis approach will be a four step procedure:

    1. Make an evidence-based selection of the most critical dimensions (max 9 or 10).

    2. Integrate the dimensional analyses for the critical dimensions.

    3. Apply the integrated analysis to understand issues and scenarios.

    4. Apply the integrated analysis to monitoring and evaluation of the project.
